Anyone who has ever been in Arizona should appreciate the unusual nature of hail this big. Zona frequently gets hailed during some of the monsoon seasons, but this? Read on!http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/local/8_29_02hail.html

Stones up the THREE inches fell in Pima County, Az on Aug 28. NWS reports show that those were the largest hailstones in the country for the date. Frequent reports of quarter and ping-pong ball-size, but three inches? That would take something closer to a baseball and more likely found in Tornado Alley in spring! Go Arizona supercells! lol

Love those storms

I was by an Arizona Monsoon storm last week as I was driving home from work. When I left, it was just super big thunderheads which in 10 minutes was followed by: the dust storm from hell, sprinkles, pouring rain, hail, and massive street flooding, car accidents galore on the roads, and lots of trees and electrical poles downed.
I was lucky to make it home okay but it was REALLY COOL to be in it (I'm a sick puppy with a death wish I guess).
